Fiona Lindsay is set to be the first woman in history to make a Trans-Antarctic journey across Antarctica. Leaving in November 2009, Fiona will kite ski the 2,067 miles from Novolazerevskya, Antarctic coast via the South Pole and continue out to the coast finishing at Hercules Inlet by the end of January 2010. She will therefore hold the women’s record for the longest polar journey, and will be doing it within 75 days. Fiona will be undertaking the expedition unsupported with Ronnie Finsas, World Record Breaker for polar kiting. In addition to the expedition, Fiona will be raising funds and awareness for the World Wildlife Foundation and a Children’s Tibetan refugee blind school. Granddaughter of polar explorer Sir Martin Lindsay, awarded the Polar Medal, led the first British Tran-greeland expedition, and also held the longest polar journey record, Fiona has the outstanding experience, drive and stamina. Durham Productions are extremely proud to have been chosen to develop, maintain and promote the expedition website, and we're keenly looking forward to cheering Fiona on. |
